Impact Analysis
Reviewing official data from the past three years, both the overall number of cases and amount in the first half of 2022 were not particularly outstanding compared to that in 2021. However, with figures such as 38,583 million Thai baht of investments from Taiwan, it has not only helped Taiwan’s ranking to leap to the top, but the proportion of investment has also increased significantly to 29.7%. Although the number of cases applied for has not increased significantly, showing that investments of Taiwanese businesspeople in Thailand has not yet become large-scale, the increase in the amount has attracted great attention around the world; it is a sign that Taiwanese businesspeople are turning their attention to south-east Asia following the epidemic. When dividing investments by industry, overall FDI in Thailand in the first half of 2022 is mainly composed of machinery for metal products and transportation equipment, and electrical and electronic products, accounting for 40% and 17% respectively. Among them, two sub-categories in relation to PCB has totaled 7,838 million Thai baht. Since Thailand is considered a potential country of focused evaluation for overseas investment from the perspective of the PCB industry in Taiwan, FDI should continue to be adopted as an observation indicator for further analysis to help companies in investment decision-making.
