Impact analysis
Chinese manufacturers have been investing in the carrier board market for a long time, although, they still face challenges in competing with Taiwanese or Japanese manufacturers in their output scale value. Among the manufacturers with a considerable size and those actively engaged in development include Shennan Circuits Co., Ltd. (SCC), Shenzhen Fastprint Circuit Tech Co., Ltd (Fastprint), Founder Group, and Zhuhai ACCESS Semiconductor Co., Ltd (ACCESS).
In the first half of 2019, SCC’s revenue of carrier board products was 501 million RMB. Although the products only accounted for 10% of its overall revenue, the company has registered an annual growth rate as high as 30%. In addition to the manufacturers’ original main products including micro-electromechanical package carrier boards, the company has also recently introduced more kinetic energy in the making of a fingerprint recognition system, RF modules, storage, and other products. The funds that were raised after the company’s listing are also partially invested in the construction of the Wuxi packaging factory and the company had already performed the pilot production stage in June 2019. After the official production begins in 2020, the company will inevitably increase its carrier board product revenue.
Fastprint’s revenue in carrier board products in the first half of 2019 was 130 million RMB, accounting for approximately 7.5% of its overall revenue. However, the products’ annual growth rate was as high as 18.6%, which was much higher than the company’s total revenue growth rate of 4.4%. In the past, the company mainly produced the application that carrier boards used in mobile phone PA and various memory boards (RAM, NAND Flash of SSD, and MMC). To meet the potential market growth demand, Fastprint’s production capacity is expected to increase from 81KK monthly in 2019 to 216KK monthly in 2021.
ACCESS’s revenue, which has not been listed, was approximately 200 million RMB in the first half of 2019. The carrier board products are mainly used in the RF terminal of mobile phones and the company supplies many Chinese mobile phone brands including Huawei, Xiaomi, etc. ACCESS also anticipates raising its revenue scale as a result of the dual benefits of the increasing market share of Chinese mobile phone brands and the growing demand for RF carrier boards in China.
