Conventionally, the third quarter has always been the traditional peak season for PCB. In terms of relative performance for the quarter, QoQ has achieved some 15.3% this quarter, whereas the results this quarter are not particularly exciting compared to the quarterly growth rate over the past three years, which were well over 20%. Aside from attributing the result to the impact of the pandemic that continues to disrupt consumption momentum, the strong appreciation of the New Taiwan Dollar since the beginning of this year has also boosted the operational pressure on manufacturers, step-by-step, on a quarterly basis. These factors are reducing the intensity of the effect of the peak season this year, making it less than it was in previous years. The output value of Taiwan's PCB industry this season remains and has hit a new record high for the third quarter, with a total of NT$185.9 billion at an annual growth rate of 0.1%, but its 15.3% quarterly growth rate still reflects the effect of the peak season if viewed from the perspective of quarterly change. However, the intensity of the effect of the peak season is not as strong and has declined in 2020 compared to the performance of more than 20% for the third quarters of 2018 and 2019 due to the interference of some factors. In view of the prospect for approaching development, business organisations and individuals have consistently adjusted their advancing operations model regarding the overall environment throughout the pandemic which has prevailed for more than half a year, though the impact of uncertainty on overall terminal demands remains high in the short run. However, the advantage of specifications of Taiwan’s PCB industry remains to serve as the best defensive weapon in terms of the positioning. As such, the growth momentum will last in the fourth quarter, while the annual output value of 2020 is expected to grow at a constant of 2.4%, reaching a total of NT$678.5 billion and hitting new highs.
